Litecoin developers roll out Mimblewimble update to testnet

The Litecoin team has deployed a new version of the Litecoin Core 0.21.2 client on the testnet. The release includes Mimblewimble Extension Block (MWEB) and Taproot updates.

“We have been working very hard to fix all the bugs before the final release. Thanks to everyone who helps us test MWEB on the testnet!” Litecoin creator Charlie Lee said.

Mimblewimble is a protocol with high scalability and increased privacy. It uses several technologies, including confidential transactions and CoinJoin, which hides the inputs and outputs of senders and receivers, and combines many transactions into one.

MWEB lead developer David Burkett confirmed that the bug search is active and the team is close to launching Core 0.21.2 on the mainnet.

“I think we are finally approaching the final. Help us find these last few stubborn defects so we can focus on activation. Maybe then I can finally sleep), ”he addressed the users.

On the Bitcoin network, the Taproot update was activated in November 2021. This was the biggest upgrade since 2017.
